FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Before the Shoot
How long does a shoot typically take?
The shoot usually takes about 3 to 4 hours depending on need. Someone should be available at all times during the shoot to operate the car — we will move it in various positions, open trunks, remove items, operate lights, tops, etc. Ideally the car engine should initially be cold as we will film a cold start. Make sure the battery is fully charged.
When's the best time of day for the shoot?
I prefer to start the shoot early in the afternoon for the video and technical shots and end during the golden hour, where the light is best for the cover and 8-point shots.
Where will you shoot my car?
A location with a neutral background (wall, trees) free of distracting elements like parked cars, garbage cans, lawnmowers, or electric poles should be selected. Shade also helps if the sun is out for detail shots. Slightly overcast days are ideal as the light is more diffuse. Let me know if you have any location suggestions — if your property is a possibility, please send me some phone photos so I can plan the shoot ahead of time. If we shoot a driving video, we'll look for a scenic road without much traffic where the car can be opened up a bit.
How should I prepare the car?
The car should be clean inside and out — including trunk, below mats if any, engine bay, and glass. Make sure to empty the glove compartment and other storage areas which will be photographed. Have your favorite detailing products and a small vacuum cleaner available, as we often find spots that need attention while we shoot details.
What documents and accessories should I have ready?
Gather any documentation about the car such as service records, window stickers, manuals, and extra keys. Accessories such as toolboxes, first aid kits, car covers, or similar items should also be gathered or kept with the car. Let me know of any specific options or upgrades that make the car unique, as well as any issues we should highlight to prospective buyers.
Logistics
What's the turnaround time for edited photos and videos?
It typically takes between 2 and 5 business days to provide edited photos and videos.
How will you take undercarriage shots?
Let me know if you have access to a lift — otherwise we may be able to find a local shop to provide access. Worst case we can use a floor jack or ramps.
Do you travel outside New England?
While I'm based in the Greater Boston area and primarily serve New England, I'm always open to the right opportunity. Travel outside the region is available with travel expenses covered by the client.
